MTN Solution Space

Client

The MTN Solution Space is an entrepreneurship and social innovation hub at the UCT Graduate School of Business that is sponsored by MTN. The facility offers a shared workspace to entrepreneurs and innovators and has a radical mission to use the power of business to solve social and environmental challenges on the African continent.

Marketing Objectives

Both partners wanted to use the launch of the MTN Solution Spaceto generate high levels of brand awareness amongst business leaders in South Africa, without investing in a launch event.

Strategy and Execution

Rothko developed a once-off public relations and media engagement plan to deliver on the client’s objectives.

Rothko was able to gain coverage across multiple channels including television, press and digital. Rothko was also able to secure an interview on CNBC for the heads of UCT GSB and MTN. The launch was also covered by three prestigious, national newspapers, including Business Day, Business Report and Sunday Times.

Results

A significant total of R2 727 801.96 in public relations value was achieved as a result of the campaign, on a limited budget of R15 538. Both UCT GSB and MTN were extremely happy with the coverage and brand awareness that was achieved.
